 Tax Credit Reform Still Needed

The House passed the Jobs for Main Street Act (HR 2847) on December 16 which did not include any Rental Housing A.C.T.I.O.N. proposals. However, we anticipate the House will consider jobs-related legislation early next year that will contain business tax provisions, and we are targeting that bill for our A.C.T.I.O.N. proposals. In his "jobs summit," President Obama recently called for business tax provisions to be included in jobs legislation to help address unemployment.

The Senate also has business tax provisions, such as the carryback for all general business tax credits, they are considering including in the jobs bill. Since the Senate has not yet considered the extenders or jobs bill and is not likely to do so before the end of the year, it is possible the extenders bill will be combined with the jobs bill into a larger bill.
