Carol Galante To Speak at Conference

 
We are pleased to announce that Carol Galante, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Programs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will be the Luncheon Speaker at the Federation's 18th Annual San Diego Affordable Housing & Community Development Conference on October 15, 2009.  Ms. Galante is a key member of a very exciting team at HUD that is has brought a new energy to the agency. Register today and come hear what plans HUD has for the multi-family programs. 

Land Use & Housing Advances SDHC Financing Plan


On Wednesday, the San Diego City Council's Land Use and Housing Committee heard a presentation on the San Diego Housing Commission's Plan to borrow $102.5 million against the equity in the former public housing units to acquire as many as 1,035 new units. The committee was very supportive of the proposal and forwarded to the Housing Authority. 
 
Rick Gentry, SDHC CEO, said he hoped to have the proposal on the October 6, 2009 Housing Authority Agenda.  The plan is available at here.

Future of Affordable Housing????

 
The Affordable Housing Coalition of San Diego County is planning a discussion on the future of affordable housing on Wednesday, September 30 at 6:00 PM.  Speakers include Cory Briggs, attorney; Jay Powell, Executive Director of City Heights CDC; and the Federation's Executive Director Tom Scott. The location has not yet been determined. RSVP to ahcsd@cox.net.

CTCAC Announcements

 
TCAC Schedules Additional Workshop

The CA Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC) has scheduled another Southern California mandatory ARRA workshop. All applicants that have received a preliminary reservation of ARRA funds are required to attend one of the workshops in Los Angeles or Northern California. The workshops will provide an overview of the loan process, disbursement procedures, reporting requirements, and federal requirements including environmental review, Davis-Bacon prevailing wages, and Section 504 compliance. The new Southern California full-day meeting is Thursday, October 1.  For information, click here

CTCAC Posts List of all ARRA Funded Deals to Date

CTCAC published a list of each of the projects funded with ARRA funding.  The list identifies the project and what funding sources are being used by each project.  Click here for list.

CTCAC Post 2010 Proposed Schedule
CTCAC has posted a Proposed Schedule for 2010 including posting proposed rule changes on November 20, 2010 along with application due dates.  It should be noted that the schedule proposes a return to 2 9% funding rounds in 2010.  Click here for full schedule.

Registration Open for Annual Conference

 
Registration is open for the 18th Annual Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference sponsored by the San Diego Housing Federation.  Plan now to attend and take advantage of the early registration discount. Early registration closes October 1. 
 
The conference will be held Thursday, October 15 at Marina Village on Mission Bay.  It is a jammed-packed day with six workshop tracks, three workshop sessions, an opening speaker, networking lunch and closing reception. The full schedule and a list of workshops is here.
