CCDC Releases RFLOI for 9th & Broadway

Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) issued a Request for Letters of Interest today to identify a qualified development team to develop an affordable rental housing project on a Redevelopment Agency owned property in downtown.

The site is 25,000 square feet located on the southeast corner of Ninth Avenue and Broadway in downtown's East Village neighborhood.  The project is envisioned as a high-rise tower of Type I construction with 250 or more units for entry-level workers and students.  Of the 250 units, a minimum of 140 units will be living units (small studio apartments).  A total of 25 units will be set aside as supportive housing units for special needs population.

A Pre-Submission Conference has been scheduled for Monday, June 11 at 2 p.m. at CCDC's Downtown Information Center located at 225 Broadway, Suite 160 (First Floor), in Downtown San Diego.  Details of the Request for Letters of Interest are posted on the CCDC website at http://www.ccdc.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/rfp.home.

Senior Set-Aside for MHP Set for Hearing

The Senate Transportation and Housing Committee will hear AB 927 (Saldaņa) on June 12, 2007. This measure, co-sponsored by Housing California (HCA) and four senior organizations, requires senior homes to be funded by the Multifamily Housing Program (MHP) in proportion to the number of seniors in the program's target population. The Federation supports this bill.

Prop 1C Implmentation Bills Are Up in the Air

According to this week's Framing the Issues, the final form of the Prop 1C infrastructure and Innovative Funding implementation bills are anyone's guess. The Senate-Assembly Conference Committee on the Budget appears to be the place where the decisions will be made and each side of the legislature has very different approaches to each one.  See Framing the Issues for an exciting anlaysis of the various approaches and updates on other action in Sacramento.
