HUD Publishes 2007 Income Limits

HUD published the 2007 Income Limits on March 20, 2007. The Area Median Income (AMI) for San Diego County for a family of four increased by 6.9% to $69,400.  However, the HUD income limits for extremely low (30%), very low (50%) and low (80%) only increased about 1.7%.

There is no change to the income limits for the other programs: Section 236, Sec. 221 BMIR, Section 235.

Density Bonus to be Continued Again

The San Diego City Council is expected to continue consideration of the Density Bonus ordinance currently scheduled for the March 27th Council Meeting. Questions remain regarding how much control the City can have over the granting of the requested density bonuses and the additional incentives and concessions.

Sacramento News

Next Tuesday, Senate Transportation and Housing will hear two major bills, SB 303 (Ducheny, D-San Diego), which substantially rewrites housing element law to require cities to plan for 20 years of growth, and SB 2 (Cedillo, D-Los Angeles),  which requires "by right" zoning for homeless shelters. The San Diego Housing Federation supports both of these bills.

April 5th Roundtable Postponed

The Federation Roundtable on Supportive Housing has been postponed until May 3rd.  We decided to postpone it after the CCDC Board scheduled a workshop in the 2007 Affordable Housing Policies and Underwriting Guidelines at the same time.  CCDC tried to change their schedule, but it was the only time the special meeting could be accommodated.

Early Registration for Housing California Ends on March 30

Aside from the Federation's Annual Conference, the Housing California Conference being held in Sacramento on April 23-25, 2007 is the best place to learn the latest and greatest information about creating homes for the low income residents of California. With over 80 workshops over 3 days, this conference has something for all members of the Federation. As importantly, it is an opportunity to network with developers from other parts of the state to share war stories and build valuable relationships.

Early Registration Discounts for Housing California 2007 end next Friday. Save $45 on registration fees.  Also, the cut-off for hotel reservations begin on Monday, March 26th. To see the full agenda go to http://www.housingca.org/events/annualconference/
