CCDC To Release RFQ for 9th & Broadway

CCDC Staff will present a recommendation to the Board to authorize issuance of an RFP/Q for the agency owned site at 9th and Broadway at the Board meeting on Wednesday, May 30 (2 p.m.).  If the item is authorized, CCDC will issue a Request for Letters of Interest next Friday, June 1. Check the CCDC
website at that time to access the document.

BOE Hearing on Property Tax Rule 140.1

The State Board of Equalization (BOE) is holding a hearing next Friday, June 1, to consider a petition by the Non Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH) to change the provisions of this regulation so that they shall not apply to limited partnerships in which all of the general partners are nonprofit corporations and/or eligible limited liability companies meeting the requirements of Revenue and Taxation Code section 214. This change is needed to address the unintended consequences of Rule 140.1 which have caused new and needless paperwork for nonprofit housing developers.

The sample letter is addressed to First District Board member Betty Yee, but please also write or fax other board members in districts where your organization is active (see attached list). In addition, please write or fax State Controller John Chiang.

The BOE is due to take up NPH's petition at their regular meeting on June 1st in Sacramento (see attached agenda).

Please contact Paul Peninger (paul@nonprofithousing.org or 415-989-8160 x 19) for additional information and to let us know if you will be attending the hearing on June 1st.
