Housing Commission CEO

The San Diego Housing Commission and Housing
Authority will meet in joint closed session Friday, July
18 at 1 p.m. regarding the appointment of a new
President/CEO for the Housing Commission. Public comment
and testimony will be heard prior to the closed-door
session. The meeting is scheduled in the 12th
floor committee room at 202 C Street.

Fall Roundtable Topics
Needed |
What is it that you wish you knew more about in
affordable housing development, financing, resident
relations, asset management? Let us know. The programs
for our fall Affordable Housing Roundtables are
being revised to be more timely. So let us
know what you need to know. What have others have
tackled that you'd like to know how to do? Or, maybe you
have something that really works that you'd be willing
to share as a speaker or panel member. The Roundtables
are scheduled September 4 and November 6 at NTC in Pt.
Loma. Contact kelley@housingsandiego.org with your
ideas.

Submissions |

Planning for the 2008 SDHF Affordable Housing and
Community Development Conference is underway. The event
will take place October 17, 2008 at Point Loma Nazarene
University. Those interested in presenting at the
conference are asked to submit an application for one of
the 18 possible sessions across six tracks. They are due
by 5 pm. on Monday, July 28. The submission form is
located here.

$1,000 Scholarship
Available |
Roger Cázares scholarship applications are due
no later than 2 p.m. July 25 for a $1,000 educational
scholarship. It is offered to graduating high
school seniors and those seeking to continue their
education, including graduate programs. Criteria include
admission or enrollment in an accredited 2 or 4-year
college or university as an undergraduate or graduate
student for fall 2008 and permanent San Diego County

Date Change for Youth Application
Workshop |
|
The date has been changed for HCD's next Homeless
Youth Supportive Housing Application Workshop. The
workshop will assist developers interested in serving
homeless youth. Attendees will learn how to complete the
application for the Multifamily Housing Program
(MHP)-Homeless Youth Program. The new date is Monday,
July 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sacramento. For more

Toolkit Connects Residents to
Jobs |
|
The Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) will
present the next Hot Topics in Supportive Housing
Audio-Conference, Tuesday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to noon.
It will introduce a new resource for Connecting
Supportive Housing Tenants to Employment. This Toolkit, made possible through the
generous support of the MetLife Foundation, is designed
to provide access to a wide variety of resources to help
supportive housing organizations, workforce partners,
and employers address key challenges in the planning,
implementation, and on-going provision of
employment-related services and programs. To register

Nominations Due for
Collaboration Prize |
|
Nonprofit collaborations are eligible for
nomination for the Collaboration Prize from the Lodestar
Foundation. Nominees should have achieved greater
community impact, greater efficiency with resources, or
both. The Prize of $250,000 will be awarded to the
winning collaboration. Although the award must be used
for charitable purposes, there are no specific
requirements for its use. The Collaboration Prize
planners hope that the funds will be used to enhance the
winning collaboration's continued contribution to the
social good.
