10 Year Plan to End Homelessness

The region's 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness will be heard by the City of San Diego's Committee on Public Safety & Neighborhood Services on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 2:00 pm. The plan adopts a "Housing First" approach to ending and preventing chronic homelessness for the mentally ill and dual diagnosed homeless. The emphasis is to provide permanent housing with on-site supportive services. There are many in the homeless service community that have concerns over the plan, fearing that it takes away support for emergency and transitional housing services. The plan supporters do not agree with that assessment. The Committee will be asked to accept the plan and provide direction on implementation.
