HUD Publishes SuperNOFA Part I
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson today unveiled the first part of HUD's Fiscal Year 2006 "SuperNOFA," a notice that will make available approximately $2.1 billion in grants through 40 individual programs. By publishing the General Section of the Fiscal Year 2006 Notice of Funding Availability early, HUD hopes to give prospective applicants a jump start in preparing this year's applications and to promote early electronic registration. HUD anticipates publication of the remainder of the SuperNOFA within the next few weeks. Click Here to view Federal Register Notice. Click Here for the Press Release.
Council Postpones Action on Downtown Plan
The San Diego City Council has postponed action on the Downtown Community Plan until February 21, 2006. The Council was due to consider the plan on January 31, but postponed it to give the new Councilmembers, Kevin Faulconer and Ben Hueso, more time to review the plan. The San Diego Housing Federation has raised concerns that the new plan will make it more expensive than it needs to be to develop rental housing downtown that is affordable to low and very low income households.
State Infrastructure Bond and Affordable Housing
The San Diego Housing Federation is urging all housing advocates to contact their legislators, local government officials and trade associations and ask that funding for affordable housing programs be included in any infrastructure bond that is placed on the ballot by the legislature and Governor.
