The Power of Us

Since 1990, San Diego Housing Federation has been the collective voice of those who support, build, and finance affordable housing in the San Diego region. San Diego Housing Federation creates affordable housing opportunities for low-income people by expanding the knowledge, capacity, and influence of the affordable housing development community. In addition to our advocacy work, SDHF offers professional training, networking opportunities, and provides resources for housing policy advocates.

Our Mission

Building the knowledge, capacity, and influence of people, organizations, and institutions that are committed to developing and preserving quality affordable housing.

Our History

San Diego Housing Federation was formed in 1990 with the goal of strengthening the non-profit affordable housing development industry in San Diego County. In our early years, we were known as the Nonprofit Federation for Housing and Community Development. In 2001 our name was changed to San Diego Housing Federation in order to better reflect the growing diversity of our membership. San Diego Housing Federation is organized as a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt charitable organization governed by an 17-member Board of Directors.
