**In Person** SHLN Workshop - Harm Reduction & Naloxone

For the month of June, SHLN is offering an in person two-part session. The first half will be covering the core principles and approaches of Harm Reduction in practice. The second half A New Path-- will instruct attendees about the causes of opioid overdose and how to recognize and respond to an overdose, including administering an opioid antagonist (naloxone).

You will leave the understanding of harm reduction and know how to use naloxone!

Presenters

Terri Garcia, B.S., CADC III-CA, SUDC III – CS

Terri Garcia has worked in behavioral health since 1999 in various capacities, working with adolescents and adults with co-occurring disorders. Terri has had direct oversight of both outpatient and residential treatment facilities throughout her career and has been training community partners for over 15 years as a certified trainer first with Mental Health Systems, and most recently with RHIS. Terri is also the founder of Empowered Through Choice Training Services, LLC, providing personal and professional growth trainings to groups and individuals.  Terri has developed a variety of trainings/presentations over the years such as Harm Reduction, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and treatment, Relapse Prevention, Housing First and various topics that fall under the self-care umbrella. Terri sees the world through a gender responsive, trauma informed lens and honors people for who they are. She strives to reach individuals of all ages and experiences through her trainings and seminars.

 

A non-profit advocacy organization of parents, concerned citizens, individuals in recovery, healthcare professionals and community leaders working together to educate the public, media and decision makers about the true nature of the disease of addiction, and to expand access to treatment services.

A New PATH works to reduce the stigma associated with addictive illness through education and compassionate support, and to advocate for therapeutic rather than punitive drug policies.
