How Prepared is Your Property, Staff, and Residents for Emergencies?

Planning for Vulnerable Populations in Supportive Housing

Are your supportive housing buildings and staff prepared in the event of an emergency? Do your residents and staff know the evacuation route, plan on action, and meeting location? Are your residents registered to receive text alerts by first responders and do your residents have the necessary emergency supplies on hand? This workshop will discuss what organizations should do to prepare their housing sites in the event of an emergency such as a fire, earthquake, power outage, and violent threats. The workshop will have a special focus on residents with special needs such as wheelchair bound residents, residents with other mobility challenges, and residents with other special needs. The workshop will also discuss how property management and resident services can equip residents with the necessary information and tools to help prepare them in case of an emergency. We will discuss local organizations such as the Red Cross and Access to Independence that provide free workshops to residents on emergency preparedness and how your residents may be able to qualify for a free emergency kit.
